Welcome to Forró Bristol
Forró Bristol is a social group of people that enjoy the music, dance, and culture of Forró, a couple dance that originates from Brazil and is becoming more popular around the world.
Forró is a native Brazilian dance and musical style which is easy to learn, and fun to dance. The dance is performed as a pair of dancers, both in and out of hold, where one dancer is the leader, and the other is the follower.
For those of you that have learnt to dance forró previously, or those that want to cross over from another dance style, why not come along to our regular dance classes? Perhaps you would like to refresh your skills, to learn new techniques, or try out new forró styles. We try to cater for all levels of expertise.
If you are interested in trying forró but have little or no experience in forró or dancing, then why not come along to our new 8 week beginners course that starts on the 5th of September. You will be taken through the basics learning foot work, weighting, rhythm, posture, and connection.
We currently have no events planned over the summer, we do intend to hold regular Forró parties in the autumn. Watch this space!
São João Brazilian Party
On the 4th of June we held a São João party at the SouthBank in Bristol which comprised a traditional São João family friendly party during the day with Brazilian music, dancing, food, and games, and then a Forró party in the evening with live music from Zeu Azevendo, Abner Brasil, and Anax Caracol. It was a fantastic day and the weather was kind to us. Thanks to everyone that came along and made it such a special day, we hope you enjoyed yourselves.
